About WG Harper

A Life in Words

Born and raised in a small suburb of Baltimore, Maryland, WG had a simple, yet loving, middle-class upbringing. Mom and Dad provided all of the necessities of life and sacrificed to provide a fair number of desires. The family always had food—albeit nothing extravagant—and rarely showed any sign of struggle. One thing was never in short supply, and that was love. Family was important, and trying your best and giving your all was expected.

Married in 1987, WG and Suzanne began to raise a family of their own. Andrew, Nicholas, and Lauren came along, and family continued to be an important aspect of his life. The family moved to Boca Raton, Florida in 1990 and settled in an area that could only be described as Paradise. The family has grown the last few years with the addition of a daughter-in-love, Gabby, and she and Andrew have brought into this world a handsome future baseball player, or perhaps a writer, Brayden, and the most beautiful Princess on Earth, Arya.

Faith has always played an important part in WG’s life, as his parents brought him up in the Church and taught him about Jesus at an early age. His faith grew as a young adult and he acknowledged God as the head of his house and raised his children in a similar fashion. He continues to follow Jesus and strives to be the man that God desires him to be.

WG has always had the desire to love and serve others and did that through service as a deacon, youth leader, Sunday school teacher, and a host of other positions in his local church. In the fall of 2011, WG joined a local non-profit where he was able to serve families in need through the provision of food. This also put him face to face with abject poverty and homelessness. His passion to help others now focused on these children of God. Matthew 25:34-45 became a passage of scripture that he came to recognize as his call to serve these people.

It was during this time that WG began to put his thoughts down on paper and found the act of writing to be therapeutic. His writing began as a legacy to leave his children and grandchildren, but it also became a platform for raising awareness of the plight of the homeless and letting others know that these individuals are children of God and deserve to be treated with love and respect.

When not writing, WG’s passions include watching various sports, playing the guitar, going to the beach, and spending time with his family.
